Anaesthesia for orthopaedic surgery
I provide anaesthesia for hip and knee replacement, arthroscopy, shoulder, hand, foot and ankle surgery, and orthopaedic trauma. Where appropriate, I use regional anaesthesia, such as spinal anaesthetics and ultrasound-guided nerve blocks, to improve pain relief and recovery.
Your options
- General anaesthesia
- Spinal anaesthesia, with or without sedation
- Nerve blocks for pain relief after surgery
- Enhanced recovery approaches to help you get moving sooner
Patients with other medical conditions
Many patients having joint surgery have heart, lung or other conditions. I have run a high-risk anaesthesia clinic and have a critical care background, which helps in planning safe care for these patients.
